Autora y practicante transdisciplinar cubana.

Máster en Práctica Escénica y Cultura Visual (2019) por el Museo Nacional Reina Sofía y la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. Y Licenciada en Arte Teatral por ISA Universidad de las Artes en La Habana, Cuba.

Su experiencia está vinculada a la escritura, la comunicación y las artes expandidas, entendidas como un conjunto amplio de experiencias y narrativas que emergen de la comprensión de los contextos y las personas que los habitan.

La obra de Santiesteban está socialmente comprometida y abarca una amplia gama de medios y formatos, como, la performance, la fotografía, el audiovisual y la instalación. Tomando como punto de partida ideas de proximidad e interferencia, le seduce la activación de redes de personas y lugares a través de la intersección de la práctica artística con cuestiones como  identidad y género, migración, multiculturalismo, comunidad, medio ambiente. También le interesan las relaciones espacio-temporales en las que política, sociedad y naturaleza se deconstruyen para activar nuevas zonas de la historia y el patrimonio cultural. 

Junto a Karina Pino Gallardo, crea el colectivo El Tráiler(2020), enfocado en el desarrollo de proyectos interdisciplinarios y colaborativos con artistas, espacios y comunidades en España, Alemania, Italia y Cuba. El colectivo ha abordado problemáticas sociales relacionadas con la integración social, los estereotipos culturales y la memoria personal y colectiva, a partir de las experiencias migratorias y de exilio. Recientemente, estrenó la pieza Common Cities en el Festival KulturRegion Stuttgart, en octubre de 2024.

Ha ganado convocatorias internacionales del Instituto Goethe, la Fundación Prince Claus, Akademie Schloss Solitude, Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE),  LAZIOcrea S.p.A., Can Serrat Writers Residency y Fleetstreet Residency, entre otras. También recibió financiación de las embajadas de Alemania, Noruega y Austria para proyectos de artes escénicas en Cuba (2010-2018).

Entre 2012 y 2020, fue invitada a participar en iniciativas teatrales iberoamericanas como Linha de Fuga (Portugal), Experimenta/Sur (Colombia), Programa de Lecturas Públicas TUSP Dramaturgas (Universidad de São Paulo, Brasil) y Panorama/Sur (Argentina). 

Libros de su autoría han sido publicados por importantes editoriales cubanas como Ediciones UNION, Casa Editora Abril y Ediciones La Luz.

Durante más de cinco años Santiesteban ha desarrollado iniciativas artísticas en la Ciudad Nuclear, una comunidad en riesgo de exclusión ubicada junto al proyecto fallido de la Central Electronuclear de Juraguá, en Cienfuegos, Cuba.

Her experience is linked to writing, communication, and expanded arts, understood as a broad set of experiences and narratives that emerge from the understanding of contexts and the people who inhabit them.

Santiesteban’s artwork is socially engaged and spans a wide range of media and formats, including performance, photography, audiovisual work, and installation. Starting with ideas of proximity and interference, she is drawn to the activation of networks of people and places through the intersection of artistic practice with themes such as identity and gender, migration, multiculturalism, community, and the environment. She is also interested in spatio-temporal relationships where politics, society, and nature are deconstructed to create new zones of history and cultural heritage.

Together with Karina Pino Gallardo, she founded the collective The Trailer (2020), focused on developing interdisciplinary and collaborative projects with artists, spaces, and communities in Spain, Germany, Italy, and Cuba. The collective has addressed social issues related to integration, cultural stereotypes, and personal and collective memory, based on migration and exile experiences. Recently, the Trailer premiered the piece Common Cities at the KulturRegion Stuttgart Festival in October 2024.

She has won international grants from the Goethe Institute, the Prince Claus Foundation, Akademie Schloss Solitude, Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE), LAZIOcrea S.p.A., Can Serrat Writers Residency, and Fleetstreet Residency, among others. She also received funding from the German, Norwegian, and Austrian embassies for performing arts projects in Cuba (2010-2018).

Between 2012 and 2020, she was invited to participate in Ibero-American theater initiatives such as Linha de Fuga (Portugal), Experimenta/Sur (Colombia), Programa de Lecturas Públicas TUSP Dramaturgas (University of São Paulo, Brazil), and Panorama/Sur (Argentina).

Books authored by her have been published by prominent Cuban publishers such as Ediciones UNION, Casa Editora Abril, and Ediciones La Luz.

For more than five years, Santiesteban has developed artistic initiatives in Juraguá, a population area at risk of exclusion located in Cienfuegos, Cuba.
